All Star Jam for Ron Tompkins at Steel City

The Phoenixville-based Dave Spencer Trio, consisting of dynamic duo Dave Spencer and Eli Wenger (now owner of Steel City Coffeehouse), have become known to acoustic-appreciating circles for their sophisticated, minimal approach to sailing through sweet sounding renditions of covers like Cat Power’s “The Moon” and originals like “My Baby.”

While Spencer whirls through the use of ukulele and acoustic guitar, and Wenger through various percussion instruments, including coffee cups, the “Trio” will be hitting the local music scene this week, hosting an All-Star Jam tonight at 8 p.m. to benefit Ron Tompkins (if you’ve been to Steel City ever, you probably know Tompkins). Later this week, Dave Spencer Trio will also appear with boog at Chaplins: The Music Cafe on Friday, with tickets $10 in advance/$12 at the door. For more information, click here.
