On Tuesday, November 30, 2010, just before dawn, Philadelphia-based foodie, Mary Bigham of West Chester Dish (www.WestChesterDish.com) will be headed to the Mile-High city of Denver. Mary, along with her two-person foodie entourage, will be on the second in a series of Dish Trips, quite possibly the fastest trips ever taken in the name of food. Dish Trip (www.DishTrip.com) is a dining and travel adventure blog sending local food ambassadors on whirlwind trips to their favorite cities, sampling the best fare each destination has to offer. By plane, train and automobile, these fearless foodies will taste the regional flavors, experience unique restaurants and get insider information from like-minded local food writers, and live to “dish” about it. Dish Trip is a project cooked up by PA Eats (www.paeats.org), a network of hyper-local foodie websites providing locally-focused dining and lifestyle information. The inaugural Dish Trip sent our food trippers to visit Boston in August of 2010 with future Dish Trips planned in the coming weeks and into 2011.

“The concept of Dish Trip is really to give other foodies a chance to experience a fun food adventure with us, with all of its quirks. We’re real foodies on a real trip on a real budget – and that’s part of its charm. You’ll be able to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the play-by-play details on each adventure. We’re thrilled to be partnered with Southwest Airlines on this project because the average food-lover needs to be able to fly to their favorite foodie city and still have some money left over to sample the fare. With Southwest Airlines, that’s absolutely possible,” says Bigham.

The current Dish Trip will be to the foodie-licious city of Denver. “By following along on our adventure, you can check out all of the great eats Denver has to offer before you ever leave the house. Then, if you like what you see and want to try some Denver deliciousness for yourself, you can very easily recreate our trip from beginning to end,” says Bigham.

“Not only will we be Tweeting and Facebooking loads of mouth-watering Denver tidbits, we will be video-blogging the entire trip. So even if you can’t tune in that day, you will still have a chance check out our Denver Dish Trip on our website and our You Tube channel,” adds Bigham.

The crew will continuously post food-centric facts, photos, and short video clips via multiple social media outlets to be re-tweeted and re-posted through partnering social media outlets. The day’s trip will feature a number of local stops (each pre-approved by a Denver-based food-blogger). For the day’s complete itinerary, visit www.DishTrip.com.

Along the way, these Philadelphia foodies will be saying “Thank You” to all of the people who helped make the trip possible. How does one thank the Denver foodie who seems to have everything? With Philly food, of course. As a token and gesture of thanks, Dish Trip will be presenting the most unforgettable of hostess gifts. In exchange for the generosity of Dish Trip participants, our Philadelphia foodies are sending the most Philly-tastic eats available from locally-brewed beer (Victory Brewing Company: www.victorybeer.com) to Smoked Tasmanian Trout (Sugartown Smoked Specialties: www.smokedfoods.com and homegrown wines (Brandywine Valley Wine Trail: www.bvwinetrail.com. That’s right, instead of checking their luggage, these foodies are checking some unbelievably delicious Philadelphia-inspired products as tokens of gratitude to their Denver foodie counterparts.

“Join us on our Denver Dish Trip! We’re here and we’re hungry!” says Bigham.

PA Eats was created in September 2006 by foodie/self-admitted sushi/travel addict Mary Bigham, along with fellow foodie/web designer/web developer Jason Tremblay. PA Eats launched West Chester Dish in the Fall of 2006, followed by Phoenixville Dish and Downingtown Dish in the Spring of 2010. PA Eats is the region’s leading hyper-local resource on the cuisine scene including food, wine & beer news, restaurant reviews, foodie events and so much more. Each local Town Dish site is dedicated to providing fresh, accurate up-to-date local food-friendly information – and doing it with personality. Known for their show-stopping appearances at leading area food events, PA Eats has garnered an impressive following of local food-lovers. Additional Town Dish locations are slated to launch across the mid-atlantic region in the next five years.
