Tired Hands Brewing Company, the up-and-coming operation from Jean Broillet IV, brewer of Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant of West Chester and also of Weyerbacher, has began to perk interest among local beer fanatics, and we couldn’t be anymore pleased that he’s already trotting our local scene pouring his handcrafted beers.
Jean details his intentions here:
Tired Hands Brewing Company will operate on a six barrel brewhouse and will focus intensely on two very broad styles of beers that hold a special place in my heart: Belgian/French farmhouse ales and American hop-forward ales. We will be a “Brewcafe,” bake our own bread on site, and serve food (cheese, charcuterie, and other simple & satisfying foods) all sourced from within 100 miles of our brewery. With any luck we will set up shop in our hometown of Overbrook, Phila. or somewhere close in the surrounding suburbs within the next 12-18 months. We own all of our brewing equipment, and are now looking for a home. We have just entered into our investment phase of business development.
But, although the brewery is set to be completed come next year, you may have an opportunity to taste his concoctions before that.
This Thursday, January 6, Earth Bread & Brewery will be hosting a “Meet the Brewer” night to celebrate the release of Trois Enfants, the collaborative black rye saison. Jean and Ryan Michaels from McKenzie’s will be there with some special offerings on tap and in the bottle. Tired Hands will be pouring an orange-hued hoppy saison named Thesaurus, as well as a few special bottles (very likely the last few bottles of SR#1).
But, lucky for locals, Downingtown’s Station Taproom will also be receiving a bit of the Trois Enfants. While there is no definitive tapping date or time set yet, but there is promise that there will be complimentary samples of a few new saisons for your tasting pleasure.
