It’s actually quite easy to be green (despite what Kermit says), especially since the 2nd Annual Kimberton Green Fair is right around the corner on Saturday, April 2nd! This community celebration of sustainability will be held from 10am to 2pm at the Waldorf School, 410 West Seven Stars Rd, Phoenixville.
This empowering free event blossomed from a partnership between the Kimberton Waldorf School and Kimberton Whole Foods, who both share a similar sustainable mission in the Kimberton community. Their inaugural green fair was such a success last year that they decided to make it an annual tradition.
Besides meeting 40 of your local farmers, producers, holistic practitioners, artists and green-minded companies, there will be lots of free samples, educational materials and talks, local art, live music, yoga demonstrations, kids crafts, cooking lessons, facepainting and fun for the entire family. Bill Mettler of Transitions Cheltenham (a group of neighbors seeking to build a sustainable community using renewable energy sources) will be the keynote speaker for the day and Kimberton Clinic will be speaking about Holistic Pediatrics.
These diverse exhibitors have one thing in common: they go the extra mile to put the environment and community first when it comes to their business. Some of the vendors and their products include Spotted Hill Farms, whose goat milk is used to make lotions and soaps, Sunnypaw will be bringing their full line of home baked pet treats and The Camphill Craft Shop will be selling their fantastic hand woven and sewn goods.
Other vendors include: Salus Chiropractic, Finding Shelter (pet rescue), Sun and Earth (eco-friendly cleaning products), Panache Food, Organic Mechanic Soil, Enchanted Essences Handmade Aromatherapy Products, Stoudt’s, May 23rd Organic Clothing, Yellow Springs Farm, Crazy About Hummus, Eastern PA Permaculture Guild and many more! The fair will be packed with loads of fun to do, so be sure to get there early to fit it all in!
“Expect to meet your neighbors, expect to learn new ways of living more sustainably and healthfully, expect to make new friends, expect to have a relaxing time with your family. We just want everyone to enjoy themselves and have a unique experience that they wouldn’t get at a regular ‘expo,’” said event organizer Briana Brant of Kimberton Whole Foods.
An organic lunch will be prepared by KWS students and Kimberton Whole Foods will be provide the local and organic ingredients. Lunch was a big hit last year, and people couldn’t wait to eat healthy foods that benefit Kimberton Waldorf School students.
