Philly Beer Week Announces 2nd Annual Forum of the Gods

On Tuesday, June 7, beginning at 3 p.m., Philly Beer Week (PBW) 2011 and Ale Street News will present The Forum of the Gods, a round table talk and tasting with five of the biggest names in craft brewing.  Hosted by Philadelphia Bar & Restaurant (120 Market Street), the event, now in its second year, is just $20 per person for an incredible chance to chat with top beer professionals about their craft while sampling their fine beers.

The Forum of the Gods is a formal gathering of great brewing minds and avid beer lovers, and we’re thrilled to welcome this special event to PBW 2011,” says Executive Director Don Russell.  “This is a can’t miss event for anyone who loves craft beer – I guarantee it will answer lots of questions, and as they did last year, the brewers are sure to have a few special libations to share.”

Participating “Gods” will include (click links for headshots):  Carol Stoudt of Stoudt’s Brewing;  Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery;  Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing;  Brian Grossman of Sierra Nevada Brewing;  and Larry Sidor of Deschutes Brewery.  Russell and Tony Forder, editor of Ale Street News, will moderate the discussion.  In addition to drinkable surprises from the “Gods,” guests will experience Exportation, the Philly Beer Week collaboration porter brewed by local beer luminaries in 2010 at Sierra Nevada and aged in Russian River barrels for one year.  Tickets can be purchased in advance online at http://phillybeerweek.ticketleap.com/forum/ .  Admission includes a sampling of beer from participating brewers.

Philly Beer Week is a 10-day celebration of “America’s Best Beer-Drinking City” held from Friday, June 3 to Sunday, June 12.  Established in 2008, it’s the largest beer celebration of its kind in the United States, featuring hundreds of festivals, dinners, tours, pub crawls, tastings and meet-the-brewer nights throughout Greater Philadelphia.

Philly Beer Week highlights the region’s diverse beer scene – its world-class breweries, neighborhood taverns, trend-setting restaurants and rich beer culture and history. Philly Beer Week is organized and operated by Philly Beer Week Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(6) organization overseen by a board comprised of brewery owners, distributors, restaurant owners and others, to promote the beer and hospitality industries.
