Tune into WCHE tomorrow, Sept. 9 from noon to 1 pm for Eat, Drink & Meet Mary!

Host Mary Bigham of The Town Dish will be joined on air by Jose Garces, renowned Philadelphia restaurateur and Food Network’s Iron Chef. Garces, a Chicago-born Ecuadorian-American chef, opened his first restaurant (Amada) in Philadelphia in 2005 and has since emerged as an one of the nation’s most-gifted young chefs. Now, with eight additional restaurants under his belt (found in both Philly and Chicago), plus his Latin Evolution cookbook, a James Beard Foundation award, and much more, we couldn’t be more honored to have him as a guest of this week’s show.

Lucky for locals, Chef Jose Garces will be part of this weekend’s 26th Annual Mushroom Festival of Kennett Square, hosting a cooking demo on Sat., Sept. 10, as well as a book signing for his stunning cookbook. Garces’ top-notch taco truck, Guapos Tacos, will also journey to Kennett Square for the fest (on-site Saturday and Sunday).

For all of the above, plus to hear Garces chat about his own Luna Farms, tune into this Friday’s show during your lunch hour. As always, Bigham will also host a food-fun giveaway, so join us to test your luck. Up for grabs this week includes a pair of complimentary tickets to the Mushroom Festival’s Wine and Soup Event, held on Sunday, Sept. 11, featuring members of the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail. The call in number is 610-701-WCHE (9243). Also, follow along on Facebook, too!

A big “thank you” goes out to this week’s sponsors: Downingtown Country ClubKati Mac Floral Design and Cakes and Candies by Maryellen.
