West Chester Story Slam Set For March

Communication Breakdown!

That’s the theme for the next West Chester Story Slam, where anyone can get up on-stage and tell a true, five-minute story. No notes, props or music is allowed. Just the storyteller and the microphone – and 100 people in the audience. You can read more about the rules here. The March story slam is being held on Tuesday, March 13th at 8 p.m. Our slams for 2012 are being held at Victory Brewing Company.

We’ve all experienced a communication breakdown in some way, but what does this look like? A story might be about “whisper down the lane,” or how technology misinterpreted the true meaning of what was intended. Perhaps you said one thing but meant something else. Cultural differences can lead to confusion, age and experience can lead to misinterpretation. How we communicate is very subjective, from the strength of our voice, the power of our pen, the wink in our eye. Come tell your story – or just listen to others!

Parties of eight or more are encouraged to make a reservation – and be sure to tell the folks at Victory Brewing you are attending the Story Slam. The show is on Tuesday, March 13th at 8pm and it’s best to arrive early and eat dinner beforehand.

If you want to see what types of stories are told at the slam, check out this video of Andrea Rumble-Moore from our February Slam. Our theme for February was Fiction Romance. If you can’t make the live show, you can catch up with videos on the website or subscribe to the West Chester Story Slam Podcast on iTunes!
