A Gelato Throwdown Brings Cherries Head to Head at Local Farmer’s Markets

In the food industry, we’ve seen just about every kind of throwdown there is. We have wine throwdowns, beer throwdowns, even cupcake throwdowns but this has got to be a first. Have you ever heard of a Gelato Throwdown?

In celebration of the arrival of sweet cherries from Frecon Farms in Boyertown, Jenny and Frank’s Artisan Gelato will be holding this season’s first Gelato Throwdown.  They invite you to come to the market, taste, and cast your vote.

The choices? Do you prefer Frank’s bold Cherry Ripple with chunks of fresh cherries, or are you a fan of Jenny’s super smooth Cherry Vanilla gently swirled with pops of cherry?  Jenny happily recalls that her Ginger Peach bested Frank’s Spicy Peach last season. Whose recipe will reign supreme and join the official list of flavors this time around? You can be the judge of that!

While you’re at it, ask for a taste of the new SubLIME Sorbet (with tarragon!), and pick up some gelato for your weekend dining pleasure. Other flavors of the week include Classic Vanilla, Sunrise Espresso, Rustic Lemon & Chocolate Supreme. If you worry about this heat when not heading straight home to the freezer, worry no more! Jenny and Frank have reusable freezer bags that are perfect for safeguarding the precious cargo until it’s safe and frozen.

The Phoenixville Farmer’s Market 

The Market runs every Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM and is located under the Gay Street Bridge, accessed by Taylor Alley in Phoenixville, PA.

The East Goshen Farmer’s Market  

The Market runs every Thursday from 3 PM to 7 PM and is located in the East Goshen Township Park, 1661 Paoli Pike, West Chester.
