Doc Magrogan’s Introduces Two New Chefs: Karen Weinstein and Jeff Burress

Doc Magrogan’s is known for their fresh seafood and other deliciously-appetizing fare. When you have a menu as great as theirs, service off the charts and a highly skilled culinary crew, what more could you ask for from everybody’s favorite oyster house? Just like all great leaders, Doc Magrogan’s has decided to take their restaurant to the next level by bringing on two new chefs: Karen Weinstein and Jeff Burress.

Karen, since pursuing her passion for culinary arts at Johnson & Wales University,  joined and opened several fine dining restaurants in the New York area with a focus on seafood, using local, sustainable products and offering a wide variety of choices to her dining guests. She has graciously accepted the Executive Chef position for Doc Magrogan’s and is excited to jump on board.

Jeff, who will assume Head Chef role for Doc Magrogan’s, took the “climb the kitchen ladder” approach for his success, as it all started with peeling potatoes and washing dishes. He studied at at the University of Delaware for Hotel & Restaurant Management and also at Delaware Technical Community for Culinary Arts where his skills were refined but they essentially developed working with Chef David Banks of Harry’s Savoy Grill & Ballroom and other culinary masters such as Emeril Lagase, Robert Irvine, Jose Garces, Robert Bennet, Susan Spicer and Tony Clark.

Although these new and talented chefs won’t be located at the Doc Magrogan’s of West Chester, that doesn’t mean you won’t see or taste their influence. Karen will help oversee the menu and food changes for all four Doc’s locations and Jeff will focus his culinary efforts in Dover, DE, only a stone’s throw away. Currently in the works is a new menu for the University City location which will certainly be reflected in West Chester’s happening facility come Fall.

Let’s hear it for the wonderful additions and stay tuned for all the great dishes to come from their talents!
