Doc Magrogan’s Debuts New Location in University City

The people have spoken. They’ve been speaking for quite some time now and they want more Doc Magrogan’s. Who doesn’t?

Finally, the demands of customers have been answered with a new location in University City. This fresh spot, which officially opened on Friday, July 27, will carry the same classic 1900s Oyster House theme, aiming to transform guests back to a simpler time of tradition, festive food, and merriment. The menu may seem slightly different from previous locations. Carrying only 5 items from their original offerings, Doc Magrogan’s of University City is mixing things up a bit. There is no other nearby restaurant able to offer what Doc Magrogan’s does, so it will serve as a lovely compliment to the already established vendors.

“I am really excited about bringing Doc’s to Penn’s campus,” stated Dave Magrogan (pictured, to left). “We choose all of our locations very carefully and believe that this concept is unique to the area and something that the surrounding neighborhoods, students, professionals and visitors will all enjoy.”

Doc’s is featuring the freshest available seafood from around the country, a raw bar with an array of East and West Coast oysters, a superb wine selection and fine handcrafted beers. Some of the specialties include: The Doc’s Salmon Served over Sweet Potato & Crab Meat Hash with BBQ Beurre Blanc and Wood-Grilled Ahi Tuna. A “Simply Grilled” section will always be on the menu and is prepared with hand-selected fish, wood-grilled and brushed with an herb gremolata, then served with Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Truffled Cauliflower Mashed and Grilled Asparagus. The cuisine has been regarded highly as “Best Seafood Restaurant” and “Best Crab Cake” by Delaware News Journal.

Ed Datz, Executive Director of Real Estate in Penn Facilities and Real Estate Services, believes the design and atmosphere of Doc’s in downtown West Chester showcases how the restaurant will bring energy to it’s new location on the historic city block of Sansom Row.

Doc’s will be serving lunch and dinner and has indoor and outdoor seating. There is also a private dining room that’s perfect for parties and events. Make sure you stop in and sample their new menu and take in the new sights that will keep you coming back for more!
