Chester County Historical Society’s History On Tap coming to the Whip Tavern, Oct. 23

Cheese and pretzels go great with a fine craft beer, but a little dose of history never hurt anybody either.

That’s just what they are serving up alongside delicious brews at Chester County Historical Society‘s next History on Tap. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, October 23rd and food and drinks will ensue following a brief presentation at The Whip Tavern. Space is limited so be sure to RSVP or your spot at the one of a kind affair will be, well, history.

Once your spot is reserved by emailing [email protected], you’ll be welcomed to join CCHS in partnership with the Cheshire Hunt Conservancy for a special program by David Shields. As the Associate Director of the Brandywine Conservancy’s Environmental Management Center and co-author of Catalyst for Conservation, Shields will explore with his guests the story of 5,400-acre King Ranch property in Chester County. The historic location once raised 5,000 steer annually to feed consumers across the eastern seaboard. Shields will also explain how it was permanently conserved by the Brandywine Conservancy, which is considered one of the largest private land conservation projects in Pennsylvania.

This brief 30 minute program will be followed by discussion, Q & A, and good conversation. Of course, there will be lots of great beer, and good food available for purchase. The program is FREE for the community to enjoy but an RSVP is required by October 18th as space is limited to 75 attendees, available on a first come first served basis! RSVP to [email protected].

The History on Tap event is generously sponsored by Susquehanna Bank, WCHE 1520AM, and in partnership with the 1893s (Chester County Historical Society Young Friends Association).
