Expert Gardener Comes to Penn State Great Valley for Layered Gardening Discussion, May 29

Gardeners will not want to miss a very special evening with David Culp, the creator of the gardens at Brandywine Cottage in Downingtown. Culp will share tips for how to re-create the majestic display of his beloved Brandywine Cottage and give a basic lesson in layering—how to choose the correct plants by understanding how they grow and change throughout the seasons, how to design a layered garden and tips on maintaining a layered garden. To illustrate how layering works, Culp will take you on a virtual tour through each part of his celebrated garden. Copies of his new book, The Layered Garden, will be available for sale and signing.

The event will take place on Wednesday, May 29, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Conference Center at Penn State Great Valley in Malvern. The event is free, but registration is required; save your spot here.

Culp has been lecturing about gardens nationwide for more than 15 years. His articles have appeared in Martha Stewart Living, Country Living, Fine Gardening, Green Scene and many other publications. He is a former contributing editor to Horticulture magazine and served as chairman of the Mid-Atlantic Hardy Plant Society. David is Vice President for Sunny Border Nurseries in Connecticut and is also an herbaceous perennials instructor at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square.
