West Chester Parks & Recreation’s Calendar of Summer Events, Featuring Super Sunday, Swingin’ Thursday, Vintage Garage Sale & More

West Chester borough will be bustling with lots of great events all summer long! Get out your calendars—we’ve got the inside scoop on all the details:

June 1, Spring Flea Market & Bike Resale

When: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: West Chester Municipal Building, located at 401 E. Gay Street

What: Have an old bike that’s still in riding condition but you no longer want? Drop it off by 9 a.m. the day of the event, check back by 2 p.m. and then split the proceeds 80/20 with the department! You can also register to sell your wares at the Flea Market; bargain-hunters will love searching for great buys at the event, which will be running concurrently with the bike sale.

June 2, Super Sunday

When: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Downtown West Chester on Gay Street between Matlack and Darlington Street

What: Enjoy good old-fashioned fun with amusement rides, antique cars, jugglers, crafts, music, clowns, food and entertainment all day long at the summer’s first downtown street festival. And it’s free to attend, too!

June 6, Swingin’ Summer Thursday

When: 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Where: Gay Street

What: The Black Bird Society Orchestra and Victory Jazz Orchestra will be set up between between High and Darlington streets to kick off the 2013 Swingin’ Summer season. Head downtown the first Thursday of each month for lots of food and family fun! Other dates will be July 11, August 1 and September 5, with new performers each month.

June 7, Vintage Garage Sale

When: 4 to 9 p.m.

Where: Chestnut Street Parking Garage (metered parking area), 14 E. Chestnut Street

What: Shop til you drop with vintage finds from a variety of vendors selling home goods; antiques; collectibles; jewelry; clothing; upcycled, repurposed and architectural salvage; and more. Food vendors, live music and wine tastings will also be a part of this fabulous monthly event.
