Brandywine in White returns for a second year on August 24 with a new location and a new mission—raising money for the preservation of open spaces in the Brandywine Valley. The elegant, end-of-summer gathering is set for 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, rain or shine.
The event invites guests to prepare an elegant picnic dinner and put on their finest white attire. Approximately 48 hours before the party begins, the final details of the until then top-secret location are revealed by email to those who have reserved a space. Tables, chairs and tablecloths (all in white, of course) will be ready at the site as guests arrive to set up picnics at 5:30 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., the celebration begins in earnest.
Brandywine in White continues in the tradition of all-white pop-up dinners that began in Paris more than 25 years ago, before spreading around the globe. White dinners have taken place in Johannesburg, Barcelona, Brisbane, Singapore, New York, Los Angeles, Denver, Philadelphia and in the Brandywine Valley at last year’s inaugural Brandywine in White.
A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships will benefit Friends of Wilmington Parks, a “grass roots” nonprofit devoted to the preservation and maintenance of the Wilmington State Parks. “Our goal is to bring people together to enjoy each other’s company over good food and good wine,” said event co-founder Vince Moro. “Many of those who attended the first Brandywine in White have a deep appreciation for natural beauty of the Brandywine Valley, and working with the Friends of Wilmington Parks helps raise awareness of the need to preserve open spaces for future generations.”
Tickets are $25 and can be reserved in advance at Brown Paper Tickets. A limited number of event sponsorship opportunities offer recognition at the event, preferred parking, reserved tables and exclusive tickets to the Brandywine in White Preview Partners’ Party.
