The holiday season is a time for giving, both to those we know and to those we have yet to meet. Volunteering is an excellent way to lend a hand and help whenever possible. Meals on Wheels Delaware is one fantastic organization that helps seniors to receive their meals by having these items delivered to them.
Did you know that one in nine seniors is at a risk of hunger? There is an urgent need for delivery drivers to make sure that all Meals on Wheels participants receive their meals as scheduled, each and every time. There are almost 200 delivery routes throughout Delaware and as the need for meals increases, more drivers are needed.
How you can help: Volunteer at Meals on Wheels Delaware to be a delivery driver and help seniors receive the necessary nourishment and good will they deserve. A hot meal is delivered each day during the week to those who are signed up for the program. There is currently no wait list for seniors to receive meals, but chances are that the number will increase in the near future. You can help to ensure that these individuals are able to get into the program and get their hot meals delivered to them as well as providing the program participants with a friendly smile and a welcome visit.
