Rita’s Italian Ice is back at it again. For the twenty-third consecutive year, they’re offering FREE water ice to all customers on Friday, March 20, from noon–9 p.m. With more than 600 store locations nationwide, guests can visit their local Rita’s for a taste of their favorite flavor, which will be scooped into a limited-edition First Day of Spring cup. Fun fact alert: in this time-honored tradition, it’s estimated that Rita’s will give away more than 500,000 pounds of italian ice, which is more than the weight of the Statue of Liberty. That’s A LOT of water ice!
In addition to First Day of Spring celebrations, guests are encouraged to enter a photo contest hosted on Rita’s Facebook page. Share a photo of your “cool treat” via social media using the hashtag #RitasFirstDayOfSpring. From March 20–April 11, Facebook fans will be able to vote for their favorite picture, and each week a winner will be selected to win free Italian ice for a year. Everyone who votes for a picture will also be entered for a chance to win.
