Coming to Philly in 2017: Museum of American Revolution

And now for something completely different: we interrupt our regularly scheduled food news to tell you about an exciting museum opening in Philadelphia in 2017, the Museum of the American Revolution.

The museum, currently under construction just steps from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, will tell the entire story of the American Revolution and its legacy through an awe-inspiring collection of several thousand objects, works of art, manuscripts and printed works from the period of the American Revolution. The collection, which was begun more than a century ago by a minister in Valley Forge, includes pieces that span the full scope of the American Revolution. State-of-the-art exhibits, immersive galleries and dramatic presentations will engage visitors, including the Brandywine Battlefield Theater, where visitors will be confronted by an all-out British infantry charge at the Battle of Brandywine during an immersive program. Visitors will also be able to board a full-scale re-creation of an American Privateer ship and learn about maritime life during the American Revolution.

History buffs: watch the construction on a live webcam! You can also stay up to date on the museum’s progress by following along on Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.
