Ready, Set, Goat … Annual Sly Fox Brewing Company Bock Fest Returns May 3

It’s back! The Sly Fox Bock Festival & Goat Race will be held on Sunday, May 3, at a brand-new location: Sly Fox Brewery in Pottstown.

The race, held every year—rain or shine—on the first Sunday of May, draws thousands of visitors for a daylong beer-infused event featuring German food, goat races and an amazing selection of bock-style beers. Sly Fox brewmaster Brian O’Reilly and his crew will be pouring Bock, Helles Bock, Instigator Doppelbock, two Eisbocks (usually Slacker and Instigator) and a Maibock. The festival marks the release of the Maibock, which is tapped immediately after the race and named in honor of the winner.

A wide open, grassy field neighboring the brewery will be the new site for the “running of the ruminants,” which will also be playing live on a jumbotron. Live German oompah music will add to the festivities. After the race, get up close and personal with some of the goaty competitors, who’ll join their owners to mingle with the crowd.

Bock Fest begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. The Sly Fox Tastin’ Room will remain open until 8 p.m. Admission to the event is free. Sly Fox food, beer and gear will be available for purchase.

Please note: Bock Fest is cash only. Food, beverages and merchandise must be purchased with Bock Fest 2015 tickets, sold in $5 denominations from two cash-only ticket booths. ATMs will be available on site in the Tastin’ Room and in the parking lot.

Sly Fox Brewery is located at 331 Circle of Progress Dr. in Pottstown; phone: (484) 524-8210.
