5 Excellent Reasons to Support Dining Out for Life Philadelphia on April 30

Dining Out for Life takes place this week on April 30. Many Philadelphia-area restaurants will be joining in on this special fundraising day to benefit ActionAIDS and raise money to be used in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The number one reason to dine at one of the participating restaurants on April 30 is to help raise money for this organization, but in case you were wondering, here are a few more reasons to support Dining Out for Life:

Celeb Spottings

When you head out for dinner on April 30, you may just come across some celebrities at the same time! Word has it that two international spokespeople for Dining Out for Life, Chef Daisy Martinez of Food Network and PBS and designer Mondo Guerra of Project Runway fame, will be taking part in Dining Out for Life events in Philly on April 29 and April 30.

Community Support

By dining out on April 30, you can support your local community and raise money for ActionAIDS. Many restaurants have been taking part in Dining Out for Life for quite a few years. One restaurant in particular, London Grill, has participated every year since the start of Dining Out for Life—that’s 25 years! The co-owner of London Grill, Terry Berch McNally, explains more about their continual support of this fundraising day.

Food Truck Court

Want to indulge in some food truck dining on April 30? The food trucks of Philadelphia are also rallying on this important charitable day by setting up a food truck court on Locust Street between 13th and Juniper Streets from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Take a peek at some of the food trucks in action, to whet your appetite. Participating trucks include: Chef Johnny Bravo’s Surf n Turf, The Cow and the Curd, Cupcake Carnivale, The Farm Truck, Foo Truck, Gigi’s and Big R, Mac Mart, Schmear It and Vernalicious.

Chances to Win an Autographed Cookbook

When taking part in Dining Out for Life, you will have the opportunity to win a cookbook autographed by Daisy Martinez. Simply use Instagram to post where you’ll be dining out for life in the caption and use the hashtag #DineOutPhilly when you do your public post. The contest takes place through April 30, and one winner will be chosen at random from all of the entries received.

Free Saxbys Coffee for Employees

All employees of participating restaurants will be working extra hard on April 30. If you are one of these individuals, listen up! Saxbys will be giving away free coffee to all employees of the 200 participating restaurants on May 1 for their hard work on the day prior.
