Summer is in full swing, and there’s no better way to enjoy a sunny weekend than sipping on local Pennsylvania wine, listening to live music, munching on fun food and shopping for products lovingly created by artisan vendors. Borderland Vineyard, located in Chester County in beautiful Landenberg, Pa., has a calendar chock-full of wine events leading into the fall season. Grab your picnic blanket and get ready to relax and celebrate getting through the work week. You deserve it!

Dog Days of Summer

August 8 & 9

From noon–6 p.m. both days, enjoy Borderland Vineyard wine and give back to a great cause — CompAnimals. CompAnimals is a local no-kill pet rescue that takes in abused, abandoned, disabled, elderly and other difficult-to-adopt dogs, cats and small animals. The organization also places the animals in loving, permanent homes. CompAnimals will be on-site with a few pets available for adoption all weekend long, and the rescue will receive $1 for every bottle of Borderland Vineyard wine sold.

On Saturday, listen to classic rock, blues and oldies with Hake and Jarema from 2–5 p.m., and enjoy a creative and delicious menu from Natalie’s Fine Food Truck.

On Sunday, check out music by Fish Castle from 1–5 p.m. while digging into some grub from West Grove’s M n M Catering.

Shop artisan vendors throughout the weekend, including Botanical Bubbles (hand-crafted soaps, lotions, lip balms and more), Urban Essence (luxury bath and body products), Sweet Salvation Truffles and 2Design Studios.

Dog Days of Summer will feature a wine bar for tasting and purchasing wine by the glass or bottle.

Art Festival

September 19 & 20

Visit Borderland’s beautiful Pennsylvania winery both Saturday and Sunday from noon–6 p.m. for a showcase of works by 10 local mixed-media artists. Saturday from 1–4 p.m., groove to some funk, blues, soul and jazz music from the Bickel Brothers Band. On Sunday, Bill Hake will be playing a solo set from 2–5 p.m.

Harvest and Estate Release Party

October 10 & 11

Borderland VineyardJoin Borderland Vineyards from noon–6 p.m. both days for the release of two brand-new, exclusive wines that deserve their own weekend to celebrate—Reserve Merlot 2013 (125 cases produced) and Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Wine 2013 (25 cases produced).

There will a bonfire, hayrides and fun for the whole family all weekend long. The wine bar will be open for tastings and purchases too.

On Saturday, listen to music from Mark Unruh and The Unruhlies from 2–5 p.m. On Sunday, check out some smooth jazz with music from the Gusten Rudolph Trio.
