With your help, we can do something about hunger in Chester County. It can be easy to miss hunger, poverty and poor nutrition while enjoying our charming towns and countryside. But hunger lives in our community. Chester County is the wealthiest county in Pennsylvania and 24th wealthiest in the country, yet:
- 1 in 14 people in Chester County are food insecure, lacking reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food.
- The average cost to feed one person in Chester County for one day is $10. Many will spend that before even getting to work on coffee and a to-go breakfast.
- A single parent working a full-time minimum wage job would need to work 80 hours a week to sustainably live in Chester County and would need $250 per month to feed themselves and their child on a thrifty food budget.
Our company, Dish LLC, proudly produces content through our online culinary publication, TheTownDish.com, and has a longtime partnership with the Chester County Food Bank to help educate, raise awareness and source donations to help feed our community. In an effort to assist with their mission, we’re encouraging area restaurants to participate in our upcoming Chester County Restaurant Food Drive that will run from September 11–19.

Simply read these steps on how to participate and how to start collecting food and donations to help feed Chester County. Then, sign up via our registration form to take part in our food drive. All participating restaurants/companies will be showcased on TheTownDish.com to let our readers know that you are making a difference.
This is where it gets fun:
We’re adding some competitive edge to this good-hearted food drive by making it a contest. If your restaurant collects the most amount (in pounds) of food OR raises the most amount of money for the Food Bank, you will be awarded a grand prize. Final weigh-in and tallies will happen on September 19, and the winner will be announced in front of a live audience at the 2015 Chester County Restaurant Festival!
