Celebrate the Season at Borderland’s Harvest Festival (October 10 & 11)

If you haven’t paid a visit to Borderland Vineyard yet, mark October 10 and 11 on your calendar now. Borderland, located in southern Chester County, Pennsylvania, is celebrating the fall harvest with the release of two brand-new, exclusive wines during a weekend-long celebration.

There will be a bonfire, hayrides and fun for the whole family from noon–6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, listen to music from Mark Unruh and the Unruhlies and dig into delicious sweet and savory crepes from Market at Liberty Place’s Y’or So Sweet. On Sunday, check out some smooth jazz with music from the Gusten Rudolph Trio. M n M Catering will be on the scene with smoked and barbecued meats and so much more.

Borderland Merlot

Shop local artisan vendors on both days, including Candle Krazy, Urban Essence, Sweet Salvation Truffles, Pashionista Fashion Truck and Oxford Handbags.

The tasting room will be open to sample wines and purchase a glass or bottle to sip while you enjoy all of the festivities. Of course, the real stars of the weekend will be the just-released Reserve Merlot 2013 and the Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Wine 2013.

The Reserve Merlot 2013 contains 75% Merlot grapes that were hand-harvested in 2013 by Borderland’s neighbor, Zachary Wilson of Nottingham’s Wilson Vineyard. The wine is complemented by a field blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah grapes hand-harvested at Borderland, also in 2013, by the vineyard’s Kurt Kalb. The wine has notes of coffee and vanilla and a smoky, chocolate finish. This smooth Merlot was aged in French oak and is truly worthy of earning the “Reserve” designation and label. There will be fewer than 125 cases available.

Borderland Vineyard

The Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Wine 2013 is a true Borderland Vineyard celebration. This is the first wine made exclusively from grapes grown only on the Borderland farm. Winemaker Gabriel Rubilar, assisted by David Schlueter, artfully crafted this small-batch wine, aged in French oak for 12 months. There are fewer than 25 cases available, so don’t miss out on this opportunity to taste this very special wine.
