Open Today in Philadelphia: Kurant Cider Taproom (June 22)

It’s been a good year for cider fans in Philadelphia so far: In April, Hale & True debuted in Bella Vista, and today, Friday, June 22, at 4 p.m., Kurant Cider is celebrating the grand opening of its long-awaited taproom in Fishtown!

It was way back in December of 2016 that our sister publication, Cider Culture announced owner Joe Getz’s plans to establish a customer-facing taproom in one of Philly’s most happening neighborhoods. Kurant is made at Free Will Brewing Co. in Perkasie, Pa., and though you can find its cans in bottle shops (and even bigger retailers like Whole Foods Market and Giant), fans are excited to enjoy Kurant’s cider in its own spot. In addition to Kurant’s core brands (Bees, Earth, Spice and Arose), select local craft beers will be on offer, including brews from Forest & Main, Love City, Free Will and Brewery ARS. There will be a small, cider-friendly food menu, as well.

The circa 1880 building on Girard Ave. that Kurant now calls home was originally a carriage house that’s harbored many businesses over the decades. Getz, a graphic artist with a great eye for design, restored and preserved much of the building’s original architecture — stop by starting today at 4 p.m. to see the impressive results!
