This Just In: Doc Magrogan’s West Chester to Close

Doc's Tuna Tataki

Time for one final buck-a-shuck and giant fishbowl cocktail: May 1 will be the last day for Doc Magrogan’s in West Chester. It’s being reported by Philly.com that restaurateur Dave Magrogan will close the doors to the seafood-centric spot after 10 years in business.

Magrogan has also sold the Center City location of his Italian concept Barra Rossa to a manager, although that restaurant will remain open under the leadership of Nick Longobardi. You may remember that Barra Rossa in Downingtown recently changed hands as well and is now under the ownership of Joe Milito.

Thanks, Doc’s, for being part of the downtown West Chester restaurant revitalization. You’ll be missed!

[Editor’s note: Dave Magrogan contacted PA Eats after this article was published to add the following: “After 10 great years in West Chester we have decided not to renew our lease at Doc’s West Chester. We want to thank all our friends, our employees and the wonderful community of West Chester. We have decided to focus on other opportunities including the opening of Doc’s Sea Isle City, NJ, this Memorial Day; Harvest Seasonal Grill and Wine Bar, Radnor, PA, on May 20; and Harvest Seasonal Grill and Wine Bar Delray Beach, FL, opening October 1.

“West Chester gave us our start in the restaurant business and we have so many amazing memories. It has been a great 10 years for Doc’s and now it will be a great opportunity for another operator. We look forward with excitement as we expand Harvest Seasonal Grill and Wine Bar on the East Coast and we look back with very fond memories.

“We will be celebrating for the next two weeks with Buck a Shuck specials and will throw a big farewell party on Saturday April 30! All Doc’s gift cards can be used at the other four Doc’s locations: University City/Philadelphia; Scranton; Dover, DE; and Sea Isle City, NJ.”]
