Amani’s BYOB

This darling of Downingtown smack dab in the center of town hosts Saturday and Sunday brunch orchestrated exquisitely by award-winning manager/executive chef Jonathan Amann. Bring along a bottle of some bubbly or your favorite mixer while you dine on jumbo lump crab-baked eggs, a blueberry Belgian waffle or classic shrimp and grits with an added twist of local wild ramp, sorrel pesto, pancetta and blistered cherry tomatoes. Patio seating is available, and reservations are recommended. 105 E. Lancaster Ave., (484) 237-8179

Coffee Cup Restaurant

We know this spot on Route 30 isn’t really considered a traditional brunch spot, but who can argue with 60 years of doling out solid breakfasts of eggs, homefries, pancakes and the must-have signature scrapple omelet? Uber-popular with the townies, this third-generation, family-owned, no-frills eatery—with lots of smiles—is open seven days a week with daily specials. Bring some cash with that hearty appetite, though, ‘cause no credit cards are taken here. 117 E. Lancaster Ave., (610) 269-9336

Green Street Grill

Green Street smaller

Just off of the main drag (and conveniently located next to a calorie-burning Planet Fitness), this local-favorite daytime cafe opened in 2013. The sister spot to West Chester’s Market Street Grill—also owned by Kerry Greco—really knows how to step up a breakfast menu. Be prepared for large portions as you sink your teeth into build-your-own omelets, bennys and signature breakfast burritos (don’t miss the Bruno). Creative and fresh specials appear daily. The grill is open seven days with umbrella-covered outdoor tables and ample parking. Expect a bit of a line at peak times, but it’s well worth the wait. 150 E. Pennsylvania Ave., (610) 873-1700

Milito’s Ristorante

A newbie to the Downingtown landscape, this gem along the Brandywine was once a papermill before Joe and Leslie Milito slightly re-tooled it from the previous Dave Magrogan-owned Stella Rosa. Take full advantage of a homey vibe, scenic views and alfresco dining as you relish the brunch menu of chef Anthony DiPascale’s short-rib hash, cannoli waffle or cinnamon-bun pancakes. Replenish with the inclusive bar loaded with mimosas, bellinis and bloody Marys. 20 E. Lancaster Ave., (610) 269-6000

Station Taproom

A definitive upscale-casual gastropub directly across from the “D-town” train station, this neighborhood hotspot boasts a locally sourced innovative Sunday brunch. The restaurant always runs a few specials, and we are in awe of the open-faced pastrami sandwich on toasted marble rye with horseradish cheddar, spiced yogurt and farm-fresh poached egg and the duck confit and sweet potato hash with Swiss chard, goat cheese and sunny-side-up duck egg. Is it the weekend yet? No reservations here, so be sure to check in upon arrival. 207 W. Lancaster Ave., (484) 593-0560
