Bala Cynwyd’s The Tavern Closing, Kosher Restaurant to Take Over Location

Kitchen Utensils The New Tavern of Bala Cynwyd is sadly closing its doors. Although this is unwelcome news, we’re looking on the bright side: a new eatery will be taking its place in the near future—Citron and Rose Tavern and Market.

Originally purchasing the restaurant in 1974 with his brother George, Nick Zarvalas and his family have owned the property since that time, although the restaurant had changed names and been leased out to others a few times. Mr. Zarvalas and family have ultimately made the decision to retire and sell the property.

C&R Kitchen has acquired the spot and will open Citron and Rose Tavern and Market. The future restaurant will serve items from C&R’s menu, kosher versions of The Tavern’s menu and more. There will also be a kosher market attached to the premises.
