Don’t Miss This: York’s Annual Greek Food Festival (June 3–5)

by Matthew Vlahos

Pastitsio, dolmathes, keftedes … is it all Greek to you? Well this weekend, you don’t have to be able to spell it (or even pronounce it) to enjoy the classics.

York’s annual Greek Food Festival opened this morning with a line out the door and runs through Sunday at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.

baklava

The menu would make any Yia-Yia (γιαγιά) proud, with gyros, salads, dinner platters and a sweet variety of traditional Greek desserts, from baklava to those warm, delicious fried honey puffs known as loukoumades. And new this year: skewered chicken souvlaki.

Note that it is cash only and there are usually lines at peak times, so plan accordingly.

Don’t eat meat? That’s OK. They have lamb.
