Cool Down at These 5 Melt-in-Your-Mouth Frozen Faves in Media

Gelato Irpino Bar

“Ice cream, get your ice cream!”

We all crave the creamy deliciousness of a fresh-dipped frozen treat in the dog days of summer, and luckily, there’s no shortage of flavors in Media. Bring on the traditional sugar cone topped with chocolate, the froyo craze and the Italian ice. The options seem endless. It’s July, and that means National Ice Cream Month, so let’s scoop it up!

Gelato Irpino Bar

Gelato Irpino Bar

If you’ve dined in Media you’re most likely familiar with Fellini Cafe Trattoria and Ariano. Owner Anthony Bellapigna takes great pride in bringing us the most authentic, old-world cuisine from his region in Italy. His latest venture in town is the Gelato Irpino Bar. The adult ice cream bar brings a nice, relaxing twist to the Italian gelato shop. Enjoy after-dinner specialties, such as the Godiva liqueur and hazelnut gelato or Chambord liqueur and chocolate gelato. This tiny gem is the perfect ending to a romantic evening. 114 S. Olive St., (610) 892-6944

Yogurtissimo

Froyo is still a cool favorite on the frozen market, and Media has a pair of delectable options. The owners of the popular Little Anthony’s Pizza opened the froyo spot adjacent to the pizza parlor. Pick your family-made froyo flavor and top it with your favorite candy and fruit. Candy bars, chocolate chips, cookies, pineapple, strawberries—the world is your froyo bar! 8 W. Mango’s Frozen Yogurt

Mango 's FroYo

Mango’s is just as yummy. You can’t help but be happy when entering the brightly colored shop. The family-run business features rotating flavors and a wide variety of candies and fruit to top off your froyo of choice. The pomegranate is a must-try. 311 E. Baltimore Ave., (610) 627-1296

O’Malley’s Ice Cream Pub

Step into O’Malley’s and step into a 1950s style ice cream parlor. You’re immediately greeted by friendly faces and frozen treat heaven. O’Malley’s features Richman’s ice cream, which dates back to the late 1800s. You’ll find many traditional picks like chocolate, vanilla, mint chocolate chip and bubble gum, as well as a few new surprises. For the water ice fan (like me), O’Malley’s serves up Rosati Ice, born more than 100 years ago in Philadelphia. 109 W. State St., (610) 891-0920

Sunset Slush

Sunset Slush

The new kid in town, Sunset Slush recently moved to Jackson Street and seems like an instant hit. Think water ice with a creamier consistency. I sampled the chocolate fudge mixed with black raspberry, and it was delectable. The shop also offers custom carts for parties and events. In fact, I just spotted it at the Media Farmer’s Market last week! 17 S. Jackson St., (484) 444-2838
