Power Up with Energy Grille

It’s no secret that regular exercise and eating healthy are the keys to maintaining your ideal weight. But with work, school, family and our many other obligations, time is scarce and it’s sometimes much easier said than done to reach your desired results.

That doesn’t have to drive you straight to fast food joints, though, to get a quick bite. And don’t think you have to spend several grueling hours in the gym every day to slim down and tone up.

Fit Tribe, with locations in Swarthmore, Havertown and Newtown Square, offers members quick, effective workouts in just 30 minutes. (I know it well. I’m a Tribe member myself.) But the workout is only part of Fit Tribe’s mission.

Fit Tribe founder Jesse Davis stresses the importance of nutrition. “Eating healthy shouldn’t deplete your time or wallet. After seeing some members work out so hard here, then not eating right at home, it was frustrating because they weren’t seeing results. I decided to go for it, prep our own meals for Fit Tribe and remove the hassle from healthy eating,” says Davis.

Energy Grille meals are available at all Tribe locations. The order-and-go meals are produced and packed locally twice a week and delivered overnight so they’re always fresh and flavorful.

“Our Paleo/Primal meal philosophy of a core protein combined with nutrient-dense, non-starchy vegetables is how we view a perfect meal,” he says. “We use organic foods as much as possible, grass fed beef and locally sourced produce, meat and seafood whenever we can.”

Davis adds that regardless of how healthy the Energy Grille meals are, the number one factor is they have to taste good.

“We create foods we’re told we can’t have, like shepherd’s pie, meatloaf, spaghetti squash and meatballs with homemade gravy, all those comfort foods we love,” he says. “You shouldn’t have to sacrifice flavor for health.”

Believe me, the Energy Grille meals are tasty. I’ve sampled quite a few of them. My favorite lunch selection so far is the Chicken Caesar made with romaine, grilled chicken, red onion, grape tomatoes, pasture-raised hard-boiled egg, shaved parmesan and a light Caesar dressing.

I enjoy the Italian selections, too, including the spaghetti squash and turkey meatballs, as well as the turkey sausage and julienne peppers. The crunch of the fresh veggies adds a comfort-food feeling without all the carbs. Plus, the gravy, or sauce, boasts a variety of fresh herbs and reminds you of home, rather than many prepackaged assembly line meals.

At about ten bucks each, they’re affordable, especially considering the quality ingredients and decent portions.

Each week, you can find out what’s on the menu by subscribing to the email list. Plus, if you pre-order online you’ll pay bit less.

While Energy Grille is currently exclusive to Fit Tribe members, Davis is running a special for anyone wanting to give it a taste test. All you have to do is place an order on the Energy Grille website and get a free month at any Fit Tribe location.
