Opening Soon in Allentown: Queen City BBQ

Pulled Pork SandwichQueen City BBQ, a brand new restaurant located on The ArtsWalk at City Center in the space formerly occupied by Shula’s Steak House, will be opening soon! The owners of Allentown’s grain. and Bethlehem’s The Bayou, Morris Taylor and Cristian Duarte, are behind the concept.

The ArtsWalk is a pedestrian-only thoroughfare featuring shopping, dining, relaxing and entertainment. The patterned path is reminiscent of Van Gogh’s painting The Starry Night, and storefronts are designed to make visitors feel like they are walking through a historic town.

Executive chef Fred Grant’s menu will reflect authentic BBQ with a nod to Pennsylvania Dutch-style cuisine. Queen City BBQ will smoke its own meats onsite. Grant’s resume includes stints at Emeril’s Chop House and BAM, both at the Sands Casino in Bethlehem. He also served as executive chef at ArtsQuest Center in Bethlehem.

The new space will seat approximately 150 and will also include outdoor seating and a fire pit on the ArtsWalk. An indoor-outdoor bar will offer 20 craft beers on tap plus a cocktail menu featuring frozen drink specialties. The restaurant’s interior will feature two shuffleboard tables, a jukebox and several TVs. Additionally, the decor will showcase reclaimed wood to create a homey feeling.

Opening is scheduled for mid-September. For up-to-date information on the opening and more, follow along on Facebook or visit Queen City BBQ’s website.
