Busy families—are you looking for an easy way to get a healthy, freshly prepared meal on the table? Enter HomeCooked, Claire Guarino’s Paoli-based prepared foods business. The idea behind the service is simple. Guarino’s team shops, chops and preps all of the ingredients and you just follow the provided simple cooking directions. This year, HomeCooked is celebrating 10 years in the business of solving dinner dilemmas for local families who are juggling packed work, school and activity schedules.
The business developed from Guarino’s time in Southern California, where she and her husband had demanding corporate careers, consistently putting in a 50–60 hours a week. With no energy to put healthy meals on the table, she turned to carryout and convenience foods. In 2006, she saw an opportunity to provide a healthy, convenient solution for families facing similar struggles and decided to use the idea to propel a move back to the East Coast.
Guarino founded HomeCooked in order to provide meals that her clients could feel good about serving their families—roasted pork tenderloin and stuffed chicken breasts rather than takeout Chinese or pizza. HomeCooked now boasts an expansive menu of nearly 20 meals, including gluten-free options. Over the years, HomeCooked has evolved, ditching the assembly kitchen model in favor of grab-and-go and place-ahead orders. All meals are made fresh with meats trimmed by HomeCooked’s in-house butcher and scratch-made sauces. The meals can be cooked immediately or frozen for up to 2 months after purchase.
Orders can be picked up at the store or delivered via HomeCooked’s monthly delivery service. The delivery area covers a broad area along the Main Line and beyond including Chester Springs, West Chester (East), Phoenixville, Paoli, Malvern, Berwyn, Devon, Wayne, Bryn Mawr, Bala Cynwyd, Havertown, Drexel Hill, Swarthmore and more.
