Eat This Now: Pikowski’s Pierogis in Harrisburg

Pierogis

Although it opened just three months ago, Pikowski’s Pierogi Place is already making its presence known in Harrisburg’s Broad Street Market.

The stand is often quite busy taking and fulfilling orders for its home-made, hand-rolled pierogies. The owner, Carolyn Pikowski, is incredibly proud of her goods and is still reeling from the success of the offerings thus far. After quitting a day job that she no longer found fulfilling, she took a risk opening the pierogi place. With her business partner Keith Jefferies and friends beside her, it has been nothing but a positive experience thus far.

At Pikowski’s Pierogi Place you can expect to find Carolyn’s best-selling traditional pierogies: plain potato, onion potato and cheese potato. Right alongside the traditional options you’ll find unique creations like Buffalo chicken, cheesesteak and cheddar jalapeno as well as breakfast pierogis like bacon, egg and cheese. All specialty pierogies are in limited supply, so it’s best to visit the stand on Thursday while everything is still in stock.

Pikowski’s offers one of very few vegetarian options in the market with its traditional plain potato and onion potato pierogis. The stand also features specialty flavors like sauerkraut, mushroom and onion as well as sweet pierogis including apple and soon-to-be-released pumpkin.

Carolyn enjoys being a part of the Broad Street Market community and sharing her food with others. “I love seeing all different people come together here and uniting over food. I am happy to see my pierogies enjoyed by everyone,” says Carolyn on being a part of the ever-growing market scene.

Carolyn is also happy to announce that over the holiday season Pikowski’s will have to-go partially cooked pierogies available for pre-order in quantities of 12 or more. If you want to bring them home for the family, order as soon as possible. The stand also has plans to add its pierogies to the menu at Harrisburg’s Fire House Restaurant by the end of the year.

Hours of operation are Thursday and Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m.

Pikowski’s Pierogi Place can be found inside the Stone Market Building at Broad Street Market, located at 1233 N. Third St. in Harrisburg.
