Make Kimberton Whole Foods Your Go-To Spot for a Local, Organic & All-Natural Thanksgiving

The final countdown is on—just one week until Thanksgiving. If you’re looking to fill your holiday table with the very finest all-natural, organic, local and even vegetarian products, head to Kimberton Whole Foods (KWF) for all of your Turkey (or should we say Tofurky?) Day needs.

KWF’s five locations—in Malvern, Downingtown, Kimberton, Ottsville and Douglassville—operate with a passion for and commitment to integrity, sustainable agriculture and fair trade. Moreover, as a community market, KWF works to build ties to its surroundings by carrying local products from over 150 producers in the greater Philadelphia area. You also won’t find a better location for high-quality foods guaranteed to please the vegetarians and vegans coming to dinner next week.

The Star of the Show

Kimberton Whole Foods is thrilled to offer organic, all-natural Thanksgiving turkeys and turkey breasts, both available to order at your nearest KWF location. Locally raised turkeys are sourced from Koch’s Turkey Farm in Tamaqua, Schuylkill County, and Bell & Evans in Fredricksburg, Lebanon County.

Koch’s, one of the few family-owned turkey farms committed to producing the cleanest, healthiest turkeys you can buy, boasts high standards and humane practices that result in a stress-free life for their turkeys—and a tender, delicious product for customers. Organic turkeys are certified by Pennsylvania Organic Certifiers and held to the strictest standards in the industry.

Bell & Evans has been providing top-notch free range turkeys for Thanksgiving dinners for four generations. Organic turkeys are bred in Pennsylvania Dutch country to grow slower, resulting in a rich, moist flavor. Turkeys are free range and are fed an all-organic, vegetarian diet with no antibiotics or growth hormones.

Whole turkeys are priced as follows: Koch’s organic turkey, $4.99/pound; Koch’s natural turkey, $3.29/pound; Bell & Evans organic turkey, $4.99/pound. Turkey breasts are offered at $6.99/pound for Koch’s organic turkey breast and $5.99/pound for Koch’s natural turkey breast. Turkeys are available in a variety of weight ranges, while supplies last.

Pies, Glorious Pies

End your Thanksgiving indulgence in the sweetest way possible with a fresh-baked pie from KWF. All-natural pies are locally made by Perkasie’s Bread Box & Bakery, known far and wide for its homemade artisanal pastries and breads.

Bread Box bakers, trained and educated in culinary schools along the East Coast, strive to bring new flair to classic baked goods. Whenever possible, the bakery uses local ingredients, including milk, flour, honey, syrup and fruits, to create its sweet masterpieces.

Nine-inch pies are available in three varieties: pumpkin, apple crumb and pecan. As with side dishes, pies are available to pre-order, with a deadline of Friday, November 18, at your local Kimberton Whole Foods. Pies will also be available in store the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving, November 22 and 23, while supplies last—including pumpkin pies baked in-house using gluten-free ingredients.

Vegetarians, Take Heart!

If you’re a vegetarian, you might find yourself feeling left out on Thanksgiving. Kimberton Whole Foods wants to make your day special, too, and offers an extensive array of both vegetarian and vegan products for your Thanksgiving Day needs.

Choose from a complete holiday vegetarian feast that’s 100% vegan and GMO-free, feeds 5–6 guests and includes a stuffed tofu roast, chocolate brownies, gravy and more. Or enjoy a veggie roast (also 100% vegan and GMO-free)—a savory blend of wheat and tofu filled with a flavorful wild rice and bread crumb stuffing and ready to be basted and roasted.

Don’t forget the organic tofu turkey! Tofu turkeys from Fresh Tofu Inc. in Allentown are hand-scored; marinated in tamari, garlic and ginger; and baked to a golden brown. Each kit includes rosemary herb gravy mix and is 100% vegan, GMO-free and certified organic.

Other offerings for vegans and vegetarians include one- and two-pound celebration roasts, forager’s roasts, vegan meatloaf and dairy-free egg nog made with almonds, coconuts or soy-based alternatives.
