Philly’s first kitty café opened up on South 4th Street this past summer in collaboration with Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) and has been a huge success ever since. The concept is simple. Kawaii Kitty Café takes in cats that come their way from PAWS and are looking for a home, and interested future cat owners make a reservation to visit the café, sit and bond with the furry residents, all the while enjoying an Other Animal Coffee Roasters beverage and a light bite.
The location has two areas, the café and the cat lounge. In the café portion, guests are invited to purchase coffee and light bites to enjoy while taking in the café ambience. For those who wish to visit the cat lounge, there is a $10 admission fee per person per hour. Reservations can be made in advance online and are recommended, as there is a limit of 8 visitors per hour within the cat lounge to ensure that these lovable felines aren’t overwhelmed.
