With the Democratic National Convention in town, mass quantities of food will be consumed throughout the week, making the event a boon for local restaurants and caterers. But along with that comes the inevitable food waste. Food Connect is helping to turn this food overflow into a win for local food pantries.
The Food Connect app joins restaurants and caterers with food pantries so that the former can help the latter by donating overflow food. In addition to connecting the two entities with one another, Food Connect also lines up a volunteer to ensure that the surplus food gets from Point A to Point B quickly and easily.
Local restaurants, caterers or food vendors interested in supporting area organizations that help the food insecure in Philadelphia can visit the Food Connect website today and get started making their tax-deductible food donations to a local food pantry.
