Sippin’ on Grins & Juice at Sip-N-Glo Juicery’s New Sansom Street Location

Juice lovers, rejoice! A new outpost of the popular local juicery Sip-N-Glo has just opened in the heart of Center City on the vibrant Sansom Street commercial corridor. This is the third location for Sip-N-Glo—the first two are located in the Rittenhouse Square district and on South Street.

Owner Kristen Lubsen explained, “With our third location, we had the ability to think about what’s great with the company, what could be better and what customers have been saying to really take it to the next level and make sure we are creating the best possible product for them.”

Like the other locations, the Sansom Street Sip-N-Glo sells made-to-order smoothies and grab-and-go juices. However, with the new store, Sip-N-Glo is able to present some twists on old favorites. For example, the Better Together smoothie, a spin on the traditional banana and strawberry pairing, now has açai, and the Goji Glo takes the base of the All Day Energizer and supplements it with vanilla protein powder and goji berries.

Also debuting at the Sansom Street location is an entirely new smoothie, the Tropikale. It’s Sip-N-Glo’s first coconut-water–based smoothie, offering customers an alternative to creamier almond milk and yogurt-based concoctions.

Another clever idea premiering at Sansom Street: the coconut water, lime and Himalayan pink sea salt chaser, specifically designed to pair with the wheatgrass wellness shot.

“A lot of feedback with the wheatgrass was that ‘we love the benefits but I can’t stomach the flavor, or I’m scared to try it’,” said Lubsen. “And so in that line we created this chaser, which is not meant to be as a shot standalone, but only meant to go with the wheatgrass. It’s like a palate cleanser.”

At Sip-N-Glo, “everything is just as flavorful as it is healthy … and we never let one overtake the other”—hence the pairing of the ultra-healthy wheatgrass with the smooth and tasty chaser to wash it down.

Sip-N-Glo products not only taste delicious but they’ve also been carefully evaluated by a nutritionist and designed to never go above a certain calorie or sugar count. Juices in particular have a reputation for being high in sugar, so these measures ensure you can start your day with a refreshing juice without worrying about a sugar crash later.

But Sip-N-Glo isn’t just about creating healthy juices and smoothies. It’s also dedicated to growing healthy communities by partnering with local businesses and brands. Sip-and-Glo has teamed up with Inspired Brews to create Balance, a new flavor exclusive to the juicery. It tastes like ginger ale and with stomach-soothing properties, it acts like ginger ale, too. Likewise, Sip-N-Glo donated a portion of its opening weekend’s profits to Philadelphia Futures, a nonprofit organization that helps low-income, first-generation-to-college high school students succeed.

Even employee and customer interactions can be a source of nourishment. In the hiring advertisement for the first Sip-N-Glo location, Lubsen wrote that “a smile can change a person’s day. If you think you have that smile, apply!”

As she describes it, “In a society where everything is so fast paced … I really wanted [Sip-N-Glo] to be a space where you interact and communicate with each other. You leave glowing inside and out.”

Want to check out Sip-N-Glo? Now’s the time! During the month of April stop by with a friend from 5–7 p.m. and get a buy-one-get-one 1-ounce wheatgrass shot with a complimentary chaser. Who says going out for happy hour and doing shots can’t be good for you?
