New for Brews in Harrisburg: The Vegetable Hunter

A new venture in an old location is bringing Harrisburg a round of cold, refreshing brews.

Vegetarian dishes have been served at The Vegetable Hunter, formerly known as Crave and Co., since 2014, but in March, a new item hit the menu. The restaurant’s new boutique brewery is focusing on small-batch, handmade beers that range from robust brews such as the toasted coconut porter to lighter options including the recently released Sole Hopping: Loral.

Head brewer Derek Markel is offering out-of-the-box beers like Punk Rock Girl Remix, a hibiscus saison; 2nd Street Haze, a Northeast-style double IPA; Geiger’s Punch Pale Ale, an American pale ale with Citra, Mosaic and Centennial hops; and Apple Squasher, an imperial saison made in collaboration with Mad Chef Craft Brewing.

While stopping in for a beer or two, be sure to order vegetarian bites from the restaurant, which is known for its healthy and delicious veggie-laden menu. Dishes include vegan taco bowls, kale and mushroom tacos and tempeh reuben sandwiches, to name a few.

In addition to its regular hours, The Vegetable Hunter recently changed its weekend hours to stay open until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

Find The Vegetable Hunter at 614 N. 2nd St. in Harrisburg; phone: (717) 695-6229.
