Royal Boucherie Coming to Philly This Fall

Royal Boucherie

Chef Nick Elmi has been quite busy on the culinary front these days, and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. In 2013, while competing in (and eventually winning) the popular cooking competition show Top Chef, he opened his first Philly restaurant, Laurel, on East Passyunk Avenue, and it has proven to be a huge success in its own right. Neighboring ITV Philly, a more casual companion to Laurel, opened in 2016. Now, he’s poised to debut another concept, this time in Old City: Royal Boucherie.

Royal Boucherie will open its doors at 52 South 2nd Street (formerly Glam, and later, The Ugly Mug) and offer up classic French cuisine, with charcuterie and shellfish prominent on the menu. The renovated location will feature two floors of dining space, with the first floor consisting of a 25-seat bar and 50-seat dining room and a 30- to 40-seat dining room on the second floor to accommodate private parties. An open-air garden will also occupy the second floor space.

The new spot is a joint collaboration between Elmi and two other well-known restaurateurs, Stephen Simons and David Frank, who own Khyber Pass PubRoyal Izakaya and other popular Philly eateries.

Keep checking back to PA Eats for updates as to a concrete opening date for Royal Boucherie, and congratulations to chef Elmi, Simons and Frank on the future addition to the restaurant roster.
