Autumn Menus Unveiled at Suburban Restaurant and Beer Garden

Fall weather means that it’s time for restaurants to start switching up their menus and introducing new seasonal favorites to the roster, which is exactly what chef and owner Eric Yost of Suburban Restaurant and Beer Garden will be doing starting on Friday, October 6.

Three new autumnal menus will be introduced, including brunch, Farmer’s Room and Beer Garden menus. All of the new items will continue to exhibit chef Yost’s passion for using locally grown organic produce and pasture-fed livestock as well as evidence his sustainable methods and ingredients.

Suburban Restaurant

Suburban Restaurant features two unique dining experiences, including the Farmer’s Room and The Beer Garden. For those dining in the elegant Farmer’s Room, the new three-course tasting menu, which changes monthly, will present the following standout items for October:

  • Chicken liver mousse, pistachio, port wine reduction
  • Spicy lamb bolognese, organic baby spinach, Jersey tomatoes, goat cheese ricotta, housemade ricotta, rigatoni
  • Grilled trout, fresh figs, pomegranate, frisee, oven-dried tomatoes

Additional tempting courses will include roasted acorn squash with spiced pecans, Birchrun blue cheese and local honey (gluten-free), poached pear and fig with arugula, Shellbark Hollow blooming rind, vincotto and orange and pork tenderloin with heirloom apple, sweet potato gnocchi and brussels sprout leaves.

The Farmer’s Room tasting menu is offered Wednesday through Sunday for dinner only. The cost is $40 per person, plus tax and gratuity.

Suburban Restaurant

For a more casual option, the Beer Garden offers a second dining experience and serves up small and large bites along with a wide selection of craft beers from Pennsylvania. The new all-day menu items include the following:

  • Apple cider pumpkin bisque, caramelized apples, spicy pumpkin seeds
  • Roasted beets, roasted, pickled local beets, Kneehigh Farms cucumbers, smoked Shellbark Hollow goat cheese, dill creme fraiche
  • Beef stroganoff, local braised beef, Kennett Square mushrooms, sour cream, egg noodles
  • Wyebrook Farm burger: double patty, hop cheddar, local tomato, Green Meadow Farm bacon
  • Farmer’s salad, duck confit, roasted butternut squash, charred brussels sprouts, pickled red onion, poached duck egg, sweet potato hay, shallow vinaigrette
  • Pork schnitzel, black pepper bacon spaetzle, arugula, lemon caper butter

The full new menu can be viewed online starting October 6.

For the brunch crowd, the new menu offerings will be available Sunday from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. and include chef’s dishes such as:

  • Scrapple sliders, fried quail egg, Lancaster cheddar, pickled jalapeno aioli
  • Pork roll egg and cheese, Green Meadow Farm pork roll, Highspire Hills organic fried egg, Lancaster pepper jack, balsamic ketchup
  • Heirloom apple brioche French toast, whisky hollow wet walnuts
  • Pumpkin pomegranate pancakes, chai spiced whipped cream
