Celebrate 275 Years with The Pineville Tavern

The Pineville Tavern is celebrating a big birthday in 2017—the historic tavern has been a gathering place for locals for 275 years. The Abruzzese family is preparing to ring in 2017 with a month-long celebration that pays homage to the history of the beloved tavern.

Located on what was once a busy stagecoach route along Rt. 413 in Upper Bucks County, the tavern first opened its doors to hungry travelers and locals alike in 1742, making it one of the oldest continuously operating taverns in the country.

This January also marks a milestone for the Abruzzese family, who have been the caretakers of the property for nearly three decades. It was 28 years ago that Andrew Abruzzese, the patriarch of the family, purchased the eighteenth-century hotel and inn from Hugh, Jack and Joe Turner on January 11, 1989, otherwise known as “Turner Brothers’ Day.”

Daily operations have since been passed down to Andrew’s son, Drew, who is general manager and executive chef. “This is a landmark year for our family and for the tavern, and we decided to mark it in a big way to show our appreciation to our loyal customers who’ve supported us all of these years,” said Drew Abruzzese.

The anniversary celebrations start on Monday, January 2, with $2.75 cheeseburgers available all day long, a nod to the 275th anniversary. The special price for the award-winning cheeseburger is only available that day.

On January 11, Turner Brothers’ Day, Drew Abruzzese is turning back the clock to offer diners a handful of menu items at 1989 prices during lunch service.

“The price rollback was such a big hit last year that we decided to do it again this year. Our customers really got a kick out of it,” quipped Drew. Menu items featuring “throwback” prices include snapper soup for $1.75, half pound cheeseburgers for $4.75, homemade ravioli for $3.75 and a prime rib French dip for $5.25.

The special Turner Brothers’ Day anniversary prices will be available during lunch only from January 11–31.
