It’s almost time again for one of Delaware’s premier foodie fundraising events: The Ultimate Tailgate! Now in its fourth year, this fabulous event, presented by WSFS Bank to benefit Meals On Wheels Delaware, will take place on Thursday, October 18, from 6–9 p.m. Expect all your favorite elements of years past, plus some new and exciting additions to make this Ultimate Tailgate better than ever!
First of all, there’s a brand-new venue: Delaware Park! Weather permitting, the event will be held outside in The Grove, one of the loveliest places in the park with a great view. As this is a tailgate, there’s no pressure to dress up. Casual dress is encouraged and, of course, guests are encouraged to show some spirit by wearing their favorite teams’ jerseys. A prize will be awarded to the most spirited fan!
Now, let’s talk about the food:
All of your favorite local restaurants and bars will be there with tasty bites that are their chefs’ interpretation of tailgate food. Participating restaurants include Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza, Big Oyster Brewery, Chesapeake Inn, Del Pez Mexican Gastropub, Dogfish Head, Mispillion River Brewing and Pizza by Elizabeths — just to name a few!
At the event, pair your savory snacks with wine, spirits and a craft beer trail curated by 2SP Brewing Company.
A new component for this year is a Brew Masters’ Beer Auction, presented by 2SP Brewing Company, Standard Distributing Co., and Two Stones Pub. Hand-picked selections of craft beers and more will be auctioned off to the highest bidder during a live auction. There will also be a silent auction offering all sorts of prize packages, plus games, guest appearances and more. The Stone Shakers, a fun and lively local cover band will be providing live music and keeping the good times going.
