Girard in Fishtown Closes; Will Reopen as Sarvida

Sarvida

The closing of Girard in Fishtown is a sad occasion and we’re sorry to see the doors shut. This casual brasserie BYOB made waves when it opened in 2014 as one of the first no-tipping restaurants in Philadelphia, and we enjoyed its easygoing vibe and fantastic brunch service. However, the fact that the spot won’t be vacant for long helps to ease the pain a bit. A new eatery, Sarvida, will be opening at the 300 East Girard Avenue location and calling the spot home.

The new restaurant will offer Filipino cuisine and is the work of Chef Lou Boquila, the owner/chef of East Passyunk dining district’s Perla. The BYOB restaurant will offer casual Filipino fare (think lumpia and other popular Filipino finger foods and small plates) and will serve brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.

The projected opening is set for this summer, as the former restaurant needs a small revamp prior to opening.

In the meantime, consult the Perla Facebook page for progress updates until a Sarvida page is created, and be sure to check back on PA Eats for opening date information when it becomes available.

Once open, find Sarvida at 300 E. Girard Ave. in Philadelphia.
