Sunday, June 10, marks the 30th anniversary of PrideDay, and some local restaurants are getting in the spirit of things! One fine example is Pizzeria Vetri, which has teamed up with local mixed-media street artist, Amberella, to create a special pizza box for Pride Month. The pizza box features Amberella’s signature power heart emblazoned with the phrase “Choose Love.”
The limited-edition box will be available for just one week (June 7–14) in store at all Pizzeria Vetri locations and through exclusive delivery from Caviar. To get an Amberella box, you’ll need to purchase the special “Pride Pizza,” the Arcobaleno pizza (which translates to “rainbow” in Italian), which features charred baby carrots, pine nut pesto, stracciatella, Parmigiano and red-vein sorrel. Pizzeria Vetri will donate $1 from every Pride Pizza sold in Philadelphia to Philly Gay Pride; Pride Pizzas sold at Pizzeria Vetri’s Washington DC location will benefit Capital Pride Alliance.
“It’s so amazing to partner with Pizzeria Vetri once again, this time for a cause that’s so close to my heart,” said Amber Lynn (a.k.a. Amberella). “My power hearts have always been a way for me to connect with the viewers’ emotions and serve as encouragement and hope. I chose the ‘choose love’ heart for this Pride month collaboration because it speaks to self-love, positivity and equality for all, which is what Pride is all about.”
Along with the Pride Pizza, Pizzeria Vetri is also holding a social media competition that encourages fans to post real-life examples of choosing love — this can mean anything from adopting a dog to giving back to the community in some way. To enter the contest, make sure you’re following @amberellaxo and @pizzeriavetri on Instagram, and then post an image to the ‘gram, including #pvchooselove in the caption with your “choose love” story including the hashtag. The contest runs from June 1 through June 14; winners will be announced June 18. Prizes include free Pizzeria Vetri pizza for a year, a one-of-a-kind Amberella art piece, up to $250 in Caviar delivery credit, one limited-edition “choose love” design box and other great swag.
