Save the Date: ‘Booze and Vinyl’ Philly Book Tour

Sibling authors André and Tenaya Darlington have joined forces and published a new book (their third!) with Running Press. Booze And Vinyl is set to be released on April 17, just prior to Record Store Day.

Stated to be “a spirited guide to great music and mixed drinks,” Booze and Vinyl lets the reader know exactly how to set the mood and shake up drinks to accompany 70 great records (ranging from the 1950s to the 2000s), complete with eye-catching photos and informative details.

In order to properly present their collaboration to the masses, the duo will be embarking on a nine-city book tour, from New York to Nashville, aboard a mobile record store van with Crosley Turntables. Philadelphia-area residents will be fortunate enough to have three separate event dates to choose from in the local area.

On Wednesday, April 18, the brother and sister team will host a vinyl listening party at the WHYY-FM station with Radio Times host Marty Moss-Coane at 7 p.m. The DJ’d listening party will feature specially crafted drinks from Art in the Age, craft beer from Dock Street and light bites. Plus, guests will be able to pick up a signed copy of Booze and Vinyl and check out the mobile record store van from Crosley Turntables. The van is outfitted with record players, couches and a jukebox. This is a ticketed event and the cost is $60 per person. Tickets are now available online. WHYY is also offering a special discount for PA Eats’s readers! Enter the code TOWNDISH during checkout for $15 off the ticket price. The code is good through April 11, 2018 (one week prior to the event).

The following day, Thursday, April 19, join André and Tenaya at Art in the Age from 6–8 p.m. for a Booze and Vinyl book signing. The fun will unfold in the tasting room and there will be specially crafted cocktails, signed books, music and a raffle for a free Crosley Turntable. Plus, Crosley Turntables will have its record store van parked out front for guests to explore. The Art in the Age event is open to the public and free to attend.

And, on Record Store Day, Saturday, April 21, the official Booze and Vinyl launch party will be unfolding at Martha from 4–7 p.m. with Crosley Turntables & Lo-Fi Aperitifs. Purchase a copy of the book, or bring one to have signed, and grab a free cocktail! They’ll be flipping records and celebrating the new book with the team that helped to bring the project together, including Martha’s star bartender Mike Landers and the Running Press crew. This event is also free and open to the public.

Congratulations to André and Tenaya on the new book, and best wishes on your upcoming book tour!
